With the opening of the Linde wing at the MFA, and the relatively new incarnation of the ICA, Boston’s contemporary art scene is well-positioned for growth. It feels like every week there is something in the press about an increased appetite for contemporary art in Boston. We couldn’t be happier.
It’s time to bridge the gap between the nascent local artistic talent and the level of local support from collectors needed in order to see consistent and important emerging artists coming from this region.
Along with finding new emerging and unrepresented talent that we think merits a second look - we’ve been keeping ties to artists who got started locally and left town to pursue a bigger audience (like the one featured above). If you wanted to, it would be easy to ride the growing wave of interest in contemporary art. Because working with Flatfile to buy a painting to go over the couch could actually be the start of something exciting.
