One of the cool things about the Boston art scene, is that some of the more interesting venues to see work are tucked away in unexpected places.  An example is an upcoming show at Pine Manor's Hess Gallery by this well-established artist and writer whose early training and career has roots in the Boston area.  This is a great opportunity to see some thought provoking work and hear from an expert on local talent (Having authored two books on the subject, 100 Boston Painters and 100 Boston Artists).   So next time you and your bestie are figuring out where to go to see some quality art, try someplace new, like The Hess Gallery, or The McGladrey Art Gallery, or even The New Art Center.  The area is full of hidden gems.
