Weekly file: ripeness and rot

Kimberly Witham, Of Ripeness and Rot, #8 (a tomato horn worm), pigment ink print, 2013. Courtesy Kayafas Gallery.

In typical New England style the change of seasons dropped last week like a heavy velvet curtain, going from warm Indian Summer to the snow of a Nor'easter.  Evoking the deep colors and formal composition of a Dutch Master painting, this photograph captures that transient moment between lushness and decay, a fitting homage to the end of one season and the beginning of the next.
